5First Class MillDec 03, 2005
By Garth Clark
I have several Vic Firth and a few other brands of salt and pepper mills. I grew up on them so, they are a necessity it seems. These days you will find many types and makes of pepper and salt mills yet, almost all of them "chop" the pepper corns and do not have a setting which will stay put nor grind the pepper as it should.

Vic Firth has the right pepper mill and the salt mill even though it is "nylon" it does a spendid job in milling up the kosher salt chunks sold in the stores. You cannot find an easier place to shop and find great Vic Firth products than Amazon dot com.

This style is my favorite as it stands very sturdy and has a larger top diameter for big hands. My second favorite is the Mario then the Federal.

5don't buy a cheap pepper grinderJul 21, 2008
By Diana E. Carroll "dbang-mom"
If you are like me, you've tried a zillion pepper grinders and they always end up breaking up being too hard to turn or not grinding the pepper evenly. I bought this one and it has none of those problems. Such a small thing in the world -- a pepper grinder, who cares? -- but I use it every day, so I recommend getting a good one.

5Good Stuff - No ProblemsJul 25, 2008
By Becky Lee
It took me ages to decide to finally buy a real pepper grinder and another two months to pick the "right" on out. Then I decided I would need a nice salt mill too. The cherry wood is beautiful and these grinders clean up easily (I've left greasy hand prints more than once.) This grinder is attractive, easy to get a good grip on and efficient. I've been using it for 6 months with no problems at all. Very happy with this purchase!

5The last peppermill you will ever use!Feb 11, 2009
By P. Ferramosca
This is the BEST peppermill ever! Finally, a peppermill that lasts. I bought mine well over a year ago (7 inch orange) and I am happy to report that it is by far the best peppermill I have ever owned. Before finding this product, I had gone through several peppermills, presumably all top of the line (what a joke!) Vic Firth's peppermills are the real deal. The grinding mechanism is superb and it gives me a perfect consistency each and every time; from fine grinds for fish, to medium grinds for gravies or coarse grinds for meats. The mill is easy to clean too with just a few simple steps. Sure, these are some pricey peppermills but you definitely get what you pay for. This will be the last peppermill you will ever use. This is a handcrafted product of excellent craftsmanship, which will complement your kitchen décor and table setting. I love these peppermills so much I own 2 now, I recently bought the 12 inch cinnabar and matching salt mill which stays in my kitchen counter and the 7 inch orange is at my dinner table. Plus it has a lifetime guarantee, how can you go wrong?

5Look no furtherApr 07, 2012

If you are like me, you've agonized over which salt/pepper mills to buy. The Peugeots have horrific reviews and there's really not much else out there . .. .. Except the Vic Firth!!
Nothing but praise for this Salt Mill! We bought this in December. 4 months later, it's still going strong. Very well made and easy to use. No complaints at all.
I would say that it's not as bright/pure white as it might appear in the photo. Still fine, but our White appliances and cabinets are a little brighter than this mill. It's not off-white or anything like that, just not super-bright.
Also be aware - there is a black Vic Firth stamp on the mill, just on one side, near the bottom. You can't see it in the item photo. I thought my wife would object to the stamped logo, but she actually turns it so it's visible. It's tasteful. The old-school Vic Firth logo with "gourmet" in cursive underneath.
I highly recommend this mill and the sister Pepper Mill.
