Preparing sauces, soups, and more has never been easier than with this sauce pan by All-Clad. Near perfect in design, the pan is constructed of three layers of metal; two stainless steel outer layers with an aluminum core. The stainless steel exterior combined with the aluminum core allows the pan to be used on all types of stovetops, including induction, and heats the pan evenly to eliminate hot spots. The included stainless steel lid holds in heat and steam to create succulent and juicy meals, and has an easy to grasp handle. The classically shaped, straight sides and design provides a beautiful presentation in the kitchen, and makes cooking straightforward while keeping foods cooking evenly. The handle is riveted to the wall of the pan, for extra durability, and the sleek design and appearance compliments all kitchen settings. When you're finished cooking, the pan can be hung through the handle's eyelet for convenient storage.

5All-Clad Stainless 3-Quart Saucepan - My Favorite Pan!May 09, 2003
By Mrs. Romano "Mrs. Romano"
I love this pan so much I bought 2! The 3 quart saucepan is a perfect size, I use it at least once a day. It is excellent for boiling potatoes, squash, a pound of penne, sauce, reheating some sauce and meatballs etc. It is my favorite of all my All Clad pans. It is made very well, is easy to clean, heats evenly and is designed to last. All Clad cookware is one of the most expensive lines around and it is worth every penny, it really is lifetime cookware. This saucepan is a definite must have. Very, very highly recommended! A+++!

Also, if you should get something stuck to the stainless steel use a product called "Bar Keepers Friend" to clean it. Most supermarkets have it and Kitchen Etc. and Bed, Bath and Beyond carry it too. The container (like a Comet can) is gold with blue and white writing. All Clad recommends it for cleaning stainless steel and it works like a dream and is very inexpensive.

5It Goes The Distance...Apr 21, 2001
By Martha
I have had stainless all-clad products ever since husband #2 (a professional chef) and will use nothing else. The three quart is extremely versatile, especially if you also have the steamer insert. My all-clad saucepans are over 10 years old, but look as good as new and cook incredibly evenly on both gas and electric ranges. I never need to use a potholder, which is very convenient. If you use the good stuff, you only need a few saucepans and you will literally NEVER have to replace them.

5I've been using this pan for 15 years.Dec 30, 2004
By Michael Goulish
This has been my favorite pan for 15 years, and my wife and I both cook a lot. About 10 years ago we got tired of handwashing things, so we've been putting these in the dishwasher since then.

It distributes heat well, and the handle stays cool. I've been using All-Clad so long that when I recently used another brand whose handle got hot I practically dropped it in shock. A warm handle? Is that possible?

I can tell that this pan is not new anymore. It has very faint spots about the size of a pencil-eraser on the inside surface.

Based on my experience, this pot will last for at least 50 years and maybe 100.

There may be other cookware this good, but I don't see how there could be any that's better.

5The best starter pieceDec 03, 2004
By CyberDad
If you can only afford one pan of All-Clad Stainless, this is the one to get. It's wide enough (8 inches) to function as a small saute pan (ample one-dish meals for one or two, or a few scambled eggs) and deep enough to function as a small soup pot, or even fulfill its original function as a saucepan (veggies, pasta, etc.)

And if you wish to get the All-Clad double boiler or the vegetable steamer, this is your foundation piece.

This doesn't seem to be included in any of the current "sets" of All-Clad stainless, so chances are you'll have to get it separately anyhow.

Enjoy!

5Top of the line cookwareJan 03, 2002
By Mark Borchers
Heavy cast or rolled aluminum is the optimum material for pots and pans. Based on this fact, Magnalite cast aluminum gourmet cookware was the best you could get from about the 1950's through the '70's. However, there are some problems with aluminum as a cooking surface. Some foods react with it and cause discoloration; it's hard to clean, a fact that became glaringly obvious with the advent of non-stick surfaces. And there have been reported health issues related to cooking food in contact with aluminum (experts currently assess the risks as insignificant).

All-Clad is the heir apparent to the position of "creme de la creme" among cookware. The inner layer of metal is aluminum to evenly conduct heat throughout the pan. The cooking surface is stainless steel, the ideal surface because it is non-reactive, easy cleaning, and more durable than nonstick compounds. All Clad offers a variety of exterior finishes to suit your taste. Finally, this line is WELL BUILT. It will outlast anything else in the kitchen.

This may be the most expensive cookware but it's also the best. For a person who doesn't have the physical strength to handle very heavy cookware, this may not be a good choice. For anyone else who is willing to pay for it, this is what you want to cook with.
