5Best tool for calculating kitchen formulas and recipes!Oct 18, 2002
By Robert Angelone
I publish Epicurus.com, one of the leading food and travel sites with more than 10,000 recipes. In an average week, I go through more than 200 hundred recipes developing them for our site or our clients. As a restaurant consultant, I scale recipes for clients every day. This calculator has made my life simpler and given me less angst over miscalculated formulae. The device is as simple to use as a normal calculator, but so much better.

No home cook... indeed no professional chef, should be without one of these devices. I've come to depend on it for accuracy, speed and efficiency.

They're far more accurate than the recipe software I've used, easier to work with and far more efficient as I can take this right to the kitchen workstation with me. It fits in my pocket and works like a dream.

An absolute must if you get recipes from cookbooks. Simply wonderful.

5A necessity for any kitchenMar 08, 2005
By J. Gemmellaro "jgemm"
I am a pastry chef in SF. I came across this calculator while in culinary school a few years back. One of the best darn tools I use. Every kitchen should have a calculator, but why not one that will also help with conversions? Get this as a gift for anyone you know who loves to cook.

As a "multi-national" often attempting to follow a recipe in different lands with different measures, I thought this would help. Calculated Industries KitchenCalc 8300 Recipe Calculator with Digital Timer. Unfortunately, it is FAR too complicated to revise an entire recipe and after using it just a few times, the display conked out. It wasn't batteries as I was forced to purchase a new set to check. The cost to repair it (it was just out of warranty) exceeded the cost of a new one! Be careful before you spend for this.

5Fills a Much Needed NicheOct 22, 2009
By A. Foster "(aka blessed5x)"
My daughter is in culinary school and spends HOURS converting recipes. We searched and searched for an online calculator and never found a perfect "fit". Months later, thankfully she is still in school, I bought a book that she needed through Amazon and lo and behold, at the bottom of the screen where it says "What other customers purchased" was my answered prayer! We didn't even know such a thing existed. This calculator is easy to use and ACCURATE. It is sooo easy now to convert recipes. Seriously, all you do is type in the original number of servings and the new number of servings and with just a few entries, wa-lah....your newly adjusted recipe. I bought this as an early Christmas present (along with tons of other culinary related things) and this is her favorite!! It has cut her homework time by at least 70%. No joke. If you are serious about cooking, you need this. Especially if find yourself having to adjust serving sizes.

3KitchenCalc 8300 is a small unitApr 08, 2011

KitchenCalc 8300

I bought this unit and returned it. Why? The size. This unit does what it says, but is really for putting in a shirt pocket or purse and for travel. Because of its size I had difficulty in reading the conversion keys. I did, however, buy the Kitchen Calc Pro 8305 by the same company and love it. So because of the 8300's size I give it three stars. If you are older, I think this unit will be difficult for you to read what is on the conversion keys.
Calculated Industries KitchenCalc 8305 PRO Master Chef Edition Recipe Conversion Calculator with Dual Digital Timer I am very happy with the 8305 unit. Plus, it has two timers. The 8305 isn't that much more in price. Also, the 8305 is the same high quality as the 8300, but just bigger with more features.
