great filtersAug 29, 2010 I use the Chemex glass coffee pot. These filters are made specifically for it. Together they make the best coffee I have ever had. I typically use a dark roast such as a French Roast. These filters give a robust flavor with out an acid bite. The coffee is very smooth. It seems to filter out the oils that make the coffee turn bad very quickly. Using these filter I often make a pot in the morning and save some to warm up in the microwave at dinner, something I would never do with my other coffee maker. With my other coffee maker, by evening the coffee would be very stale tasting, even if it was stored in a insulated container. I wondered how a folded square filter would work compared to a cone, but it is very simple to use and the corners give you something to grab when you toss out the filter. I'm hooked on the Chemex system of making coffee.
It pays to use the right filterAug 20, 2010 These are the only Chemex filters I've tried so far and I really like them. But I did try a couple of other brands of filters before these arrived that didn't work out so well. I tried some flat bottom filters that I had lying around when the 10 Cup Coffee Maker first arrived from Amazon, just so I could try it. It took a long time for the coffee to drip through, like about 10 minutes, because the filter bunched up on the bottom, in the neck of the coffee maker and made it drip very s-l-o-w-l-y. Later I went to the grocery store and bought some Melitta cone filters and they were a little faster, it took maybe 10 minutes or so, but they fit even with the top of the coffee maker and weren't that easy to remove when they were wet and the coffee was ready. When these finally arrived I was surprised at how much more quickly the water went through the filter. I have the 10 cup Chemex so there's a lot of ground coffee to pass through. It's strange, the Chemex filters feel thicker, but the coffee flows through faster. The other nice thing is that the filters stick out well past the top so it's easy to pull them out when you're finished and discard the grounds. They feel substantial and don't tear easily. It's definitely worth it to get the right filters.
Chemex coffee filtersAug 07, 2010 The product works just fine. I purchased here only because I don't know a local store that carries this particular coffee filter.
Chemex makes the best coffee!Jul 20, 2010 We've had a Chemex coffee pot for over 20 years. They not only make the best cofee but they look cool too. For the past several years we have had to buy the filters for this pot on line as the higher end end coffee "boutiques" that carried Chemex have all gone out of business in our area. SOOO we are extremely grateful that we can purchase our filters via Amazon.
Thanks,
Sue in Augusta, Georgia (Which contrary to what people think is 2.5 hours from Atlanta - so going to Atlanta to buy filters is not an option)
Best Coffee FilterMar 15, 2010 Using the Chemex carafe, this is the only filter to use. Stronger and better filter than the cones Melita and others make. Great coffee every time.
