I'm Steamed!Sep 25, 2002
By Bradford I have really enjoyed the quality of all of my other Cuisinart cookware. Unfortunately, this tea kettle does not belong in the otherwise excellent product line. The kettle's shape makes it very difficult to pour. The handle conveys all of the heat of the boiling water, so you are not able to touch the handle without a hot pad. I have given up using the whistle attachment for two reasons: first, it is not made of Cuisinart's stainless steel (it appears to be made of plastic with a silver plastic coating), and so it has cracked and peeled from the heat; and second, it is impossible to remove the whistle when the kettle is hot so you are unable to pour your boiling water (often all that comes off when attempting to remove the whistle is the decorative ball on its tip!). I really wish that I had returned this tea kettle.

Poor cover designNov 27, 2001
Cleaning is difficult and the cover is hard to remove, especially when the kettle is hot. Many times the cover has gotten stuck or the ball on the top has become loose and fallen off (with the screw falling into the boiling water).

Nice teakettleDec 15, 2006
By G. Gardiner I just purchased this teakettle today and my review is based on one day of use. Update: After 6 months I like this pot every bit as much as the day I got it.
Design First off, it looks very nice and feels well built. As advertised, the finish is mirror clear. Designed for hanging, the handle feels very sturdy and looks to be well attached. The nose piece seems to be a slightly lighter weight stainless steel with a lightweight metal ball at the end. Attached with a screw, the ball may have a tendency to come loose over time.
Use With a quart of water, the kettle boils well with a nice whistling sound. At a boil, the handle is warm but not uncomforable to the touch. The ball and nose piece are warm when removed but not hot and I experienced no issues with excessive steam once the unit was removed from the burner. Pouring is easy and the handle offers a range of positions from which to hold the pot. The only areas of the handle that are hot are the rods attaching the handle to the pot and they are unlikely to cause a burn if touched.
Recommendation This is a nice stylish kettle and will probably hold up well over time. I can only imagine other owners have filled the pot to capacity when the handle has become hot and that may also affect the pouring. As far as cleaning the pot I can not understand who needs to scrub the inside of the pot unless they are making soup directly in the pot.

beautiful but not practicalMar 01, 2004
i completely agree w/ the other reviews. this is a terribly designed kettle in terms of usability. it's impossible to clean the inside of the kettle. while the handle looks nicely curved, there's no way to pick it up w/o a potholder when the kettle is hot. the worst part is the whistle/cover. although i've developed a knack of taking it off (after almost getting burnt by the steam coming off the two little holes several times initially), the ball keeps falling off regardless of how many different glues i've tried on. w/o the ball, its asthetic value largely decreases. and yet w/ the chipped paint on a plastic ball, the kettle does not look all that asthetically pleasing anymore. do NOT even consider this kettle for any reason. it serves absolutely no purpose unless you're decorating a model home where this kettle is for display only.
DON'T BUY THIS KETTLE!Mar 30, 2011
By Susan Field I got a great "deal" on this name-brand, pretty teakettle. Unfortunately, in this case, "I got what I paid for." The handle gets just as hot as the rest of the kettle (inside and out), the whistle is difficult to pry off, and the "ball" on the end of the whistle finally popped off completely, and now I just have a sharp screw sticking out of the kettle. Yes, it heats water. But, everything else about it, design and function-wise, is awful. I got stuck.
