They need to recall these..Dec 17, 2005
By Ron Malinowski, Jr. I have owned our Cuisinart TOB-30 series for less then 3 months and we were very happy with it, until one day we noticed the unit would not shut off when turned to the off setting, the light would remain on and there is still being heat generated in the oven in the off position, then within a week, when you would turn the unit to the bake selection, it would not turn on and sparks would shoot out the back, only the toast feature remains working, and if you turn the knob to go through other settings sparks are generated. If you have the same situation I highly recommend you goto www.cpsc.gov the US Consumer Product Safety Commission and let them know of your concern, maybe we can get these recalled, it appears to be a faulty switch they are using. Im not hearing positive things about there service, but if you buy one, save your receipt and warranty information, you may need it and be aware of the unit at some point may not shut off unless you unplug it (if you go on vacation, etc)

Malfuncting dial switch, hazard - needs to be recalled by Cuisinart.Dec 27, 2005
By C. Burns My toaster oven (Cuisinart TOB-30W Toaster Oven/Broiler) is also malfunctioning as described above. The oven stays ON all the time, no matter if the dial switch is turned to OFF. The ON light is on and the upper heating element stays ON. The bottom heating element does not work now. It is mandatory to keep the appliance unplugged. I bought mine exactly one year ago at Christmas, and this malfunctioning switch problem just started this Christmas 2005. I hope I can find my receipt, however, I think the manufacturer should be notified and they should issue a credit for a purchase of a new revised model, and recall this particular model

Very DangerousFeb 05, 2006

I bought my Cuisinart 30W Toaster Oven/Broiler on 12/11/2005. For Two months it worked Great, then I woke up at 8:30 a.m. Supperbowl morning to the smell of an electrical fire. Ran out to the Kitchen to discover that it was the Cuisinart 30W Toaster Oven/Broiler it had come on even though the switch was off. My Cuisinart Burnt up, I still had the reciept and returned it for a Kitchen Aid. Hopefully, the KitchenAid works without the defects of the Cuisinart.
Suggestion: Unplug the Unit after every use, even if it has an on/off switch.

A Classy Toaster OvenMay 13, 2006

We like our Cuisinart TOB-30BWFR toaster oven. It's black pebble grain and brushed stainless steel finish is most attractive and blends well with most decor. The unit makes beautiful toast, broils and bakes to perfection. A nice feature is the non-stick coating on insides that makes for easy cleaning. The accessories, ie the trays, go right into the dishwasher with the dishes when soiled. The crumb tray wipes off with a damp cloth for easy cleaning. This toaster oven is of good quality, easy to use and an excellent buy.

Defective Applicance to be AvoidedOct 17, 2007

I have owned two of these lemons. The first one experienced electrical sparking and spitting like previous reviewers have explained. We sent it back to Cuisinart for repair, and, after many phone calls, they shipped us a new one. The new one has developed the same problem apparently, plus a new one. The electrical problem has reappeared: When we returned from a two week trip, having forgotten to unplug it, and having left it in Toast, we were greeted by a loud buzzing noise. No lights were on, and the oven was cool, but it was making a lot of noise for an appliance that appeared to be "off". But, it still worked, so we keep using it.
Yesterday, I tried to move it, to clean under it, but it had leaked something and 'glued' the feet to the counter, and when I tried to move it the plastic broke. So now it's propped up on the broken plastic awaiting a replacement oven (anything but Cuisinart).
I heartily agree that the CPSC should ban the sale of these ovens. They're a menace.
