 Perfect for those who want finely ground salt and pepperDec 03, 2008

For years I've been trying to find a pepper grinder that grinds extra-fine, doesn't cost a fortune, but doesn't drift - I hate it when you set the grinder to it's finest setting, but it gradually drifts to a coarser setting as you grind. Well, this is it. I mean it, this is the one. William Bounds is what I've been looking for. The search is over.
The William Bounds crushing system is simply wonderful. I don't know how, but somehow it crushes the spice instead of grinding it. They claim this means the mechanism will last forever. Of course, that will always remain to be seen. The best thing about it, though, is that you can set the mill to any desired grind setting, from extra-fine to extra-coarse, simply by clicking the adjuster on the bottom to the desired notch, and once set, it STAYS THERE until you decide to change it. It CANNOT drift. And it can grind as fine as the finest-ground pepper you can buy anywhere. Although I do use this set occasionally for cooking, I mostly use it at the table, so I want freshly ground pepper that super-fine. It takes a very long time to grind on the finest setting, but for me it's worth the wait. There are never any big chunks mixed in, either. All the above goes for the salt mill, too.
At 7 inches tall, they are the perfect size for the table - not so small that they constantly need to be refilled, but not so big that they are awkward to use.
If you want freshly ground salt and pepper for a reasonable price that is as fine or coarse as you like with no drifting, you want a William Bounds set.

I can't comment on the functionality of this salt/pepper grinder set since I didn't get that far. I took the top nut off the pepper mill and found it to be plastic. then I examined the top portion of the body and found it to be plastic as well. These went right back in the box for a return. I will keep looking until I find a true stainless set.

First off, these are plastic with a brushed metal finish. They look great and in 5+ years haven't rusted, corroded, or discolored. They grind well, are easy to set using the dial on the bottom, and don't drift off their setting. They are just the right height to fit in the our cabinet with other spices when we want to clear off the counters (many others are simply too tall). We finally had to replace them after the pepper grinder was dropped for the thousandth time. It broke inside and does not function anymore. But up until that day it worked as well as it had since the day we bought them over 5 years ago.

I have never had much luck with the salt mill in a salt and pepper mill combo, but this set is a happy exception! The salt mill continues to grind salt perfectly and the set looks very sleek on my granite countertop.William Bounds 10012 Knight Knight Dual Mill Set with Tubes 4-pc.

I bought these salt & pepper grinders as a gift for my daughters birthday. She is very satisfied with this product. They're a large size and can be ajusted to fine or course and they are easy to just wipe off.
