The scale itself is great - the problem is the battery source. It's true for all their scales, the 9 volt battery doesn't provide enough power to keep it going; I had to take an old plug-in power source from an old phone to keep it going. The AA battery variety of their scales work far superior to the 9 Volt versions; unfortunately, I can't find one of these scales (this particular variety) that runs on AA Batteries.

5A really useful kitchen scaleFeb 15, 2007

I do alot of candy making and baking and find this scale with its' tare zeroing ability very handy for adding consecutive liquids or solids to a bowl or saucepan, and thus not having to use any measuring cups. It is very handy to use and easily worth its' cost. The conversion back and forth to metric while measuring things into a bowl is also quite handy.

5A Perfect ScaleNov 11, 2008
By Buffalo MN "Realist"
This scale is wonderful! I make a lot of homemade breads and this scale is perfect for weighing different flours and liquids. I even weigh my postal items and never have to guess how much postage to use. It weighs up to 11 lbs which covers most uses for cooking, baking and mailing items.

Are you on a diet that involves counting calories and/or carbs? Then this is the scale for you. It's accurate, fast, easy to use, has a tare function and will weigh in three modes, grams, ounces and pounds and ounces.

BUT... the TWO things that sets this scale apart are that 1) It weighs up to 11 pounds! So, make that pot of soup. Jot down the calories you as add ingredients. Then... when it's done... weigh the entire pot of soup so you can accurately divide it into portions and know exactly how much each portion weighs. It makes it sooo much easier to keep a very accurate accounting of calories and consumption.

2nd thing, and this is the only scale I have found this on, is that it is able to weigh liquids and adjust for the density. I must confess I use this function less than I thought I would, still it is awesome and for some times it is indespensible as a convienient and accurate measurement.

It's a very attractive little scale that I leave on my countertop. The digital reading is easy to see even with larger objects on it. I find if I find the weight of a food that it is so much easier in the future to just put an empty dish on my scale, tare it to zero, and then add my food for an accurate portion.

Oh, it's great for weighing small puppies too!

5Excellent product that does the job easilyDec 11, 2008

We've had this on our kitchen counter for about a year. It works great, measures fine and the 'tare' function that removes the weight of the dish or bowl is super useful and very easy. The unit also quickly changes between metric and imperial. I'd get another if I need to.
