I love this little mortar and pestle set so much that I can easily overlook it's drawbacks.
First, I don't often use one for every-day cooking, so it's not constantly getting scraped-up, banged around, and scrubbed.
Second, I don't have a large family so the size is not an issue when I do use it. It's perfect for my needs, and an eye-catching addition to my kitchen decor.
For someone whose needs are greater, this may not be the way to go. It is small, and gets scratched-up easily.

I absolutely love this mortar and pestle! Not only is it functional but very pretty! I have it displayed on my china cabinet and refuse to hide it in my cabinet as it is too pretty of an object! So glad I purchased it! Works like a charm - don't know what we did without it!

This mortar and pestle is perfect for spices and rubs. It is a great size, and because it is so colorful, it looks wonderful on the countertop. We love it!

I wasn't too concerned about the size of the mortal and pestal seeing as most of the time i'm only cooking for two. It is small but will work for that. The colors however look like a shear swap of water color, the most vibrant part of it is the very edge of where the color starts and then basically it looks just like wood. It still will look nice just not nearly as colorful as I was suspecting considering the image.
