The recipe box is just what I wanted. The only thing that I was not aware of was the immovable divider inside. I would prefer to move the divider where I wanted it.

I ordered one of these last week and when I received it, I was stunned... it was beautiful. From the dramatic wood grain, to the beautiful color, to the well crafted tongue in groove construction, this box was perfect. Then I noticed that the bottom corner was chipped, so I regretfully exchanged it for another. The exchange came today, and the lid was skewed by about 1/8 of an inch off the base to the point where when you closed it, the lid was hanging off one side, and not completely covering the other side. I've exchanged it for a second time now. Hopefully #3 will be a winner, because a non-chipped one with a properly fitting lid would be the perfect recipe box!

I rarely take the time to submit reviews and I should because I do rely on the reviews of others. But I felt compelled to write this review because of some reviews left by others. I saw a number of reviews where folks complained about the quality of the item they received - lid didn't fit, joints were poor, etc. I ordered 4 recipe boxs, in spite of those comments because I was ordering early enough that if anything was not acceptable, I had time to exchange. I wanted these particular boxes because they are the right size, have the cool recipe card holder slot on the top and are an attractive, but neutral design.
All four boxes arrived very fast, well packaged and in PERFECT condition. All of the lids fitted snugly and evenly over the bottom. All of the joints were solidly assembled with a lovely dovetail connection. The wood grain was artfully selected for each box giving them their own identity.
The one nice trait not mentioned in a prior review is the fact that there is a divider in the center of the box. This help hold up the cards when you are just starting to assemble your recipe collection.
I could not have been more pleased.

I ordered four of these boxes, one for myself and three for Christmas gifts. Mine is beautiful, and the people that received them as gifts loved them as well and said that their boxes were wonderful. They are definitely prettier than the picture. The wood is beautiful, and the picture doesn't even start to do it justice. I like the fact that there is a slot to hold recipe cards on the lid as you cook. The only thing I don't like about the box is the divider. It would be nice if they could fix them so that you can remove the divider if you don't want it. I understand the purpose of it, but I have a lot of cards, and it does take up room. Other than that, I love the box, and I'm glad that I chose this one.
