Solid maple rolling pin/dowelJan 21, 2009
By Poor Student This maple rolling dowel is a substantial hunk of wood. It is not so practical for small batches/quantities of dough, but it makes quick work of large ones. I like that it is not made of some unidentified wood or strange, heavily processed wood product, and that it is low tech and easy to clean. The finish is nice and smooth, but keep in mind the storage requirements for this 19"x2" dowel. I'd really like to find smaller diameter, shorter length dowels similar to the quality of this one for rolling out smaller things (say miniature pie crusts or dumpling wrappers).

Great PinMar 25, 2008
By Cindy Mazzacane You can't get much more basic than this . . . a solid maple rolling pin with no moving parts to deteriorate, at a good price.

History repeats itselfApr 29, 2010
By J. S. Rachiele I couldn't be happier. My mom bought me one 20 years ago and it is still going strong after bread, pies, and dare I say...wallpaper :). My daughter needed a new rolling pin and this was identical to what I had. The price, shipping, and quality were perfect! History repeats itself in the very best way.

I love this rolling pin. It's long, a bit heavy (compared to my old one), having a nice smooth finish. It works great for me. Definitely would recommend to a friend.

Living large, taking charge.Feb 02, 2009

I've seen a similar, if not the same product, at gourmet stores in Manhattan and Queens that retail for like $50 or more. And this is less than $20. GET IT. It's worth every penny. It has some serious heft, and will make short work of any pastry or bread dough that you throw at it.
