Single Solder Point = Broken in DaysMay 06, 2010 Hard to imagine saying something that cost $2.45 is not worth it, but I got 2 of these and both were broken within a week. There's a single solder point on each that broke and the latch and chain falls off.
Great, just used it this morning.May 04, 2010 This is a find. It holds the right amount for an entire pot with loose tea. I feel in love with Rioboos tea on a trip to Swaziland and this brews the perfect pot. Clean up is easy, it was inexpensive but built well enough to be used dozens of times and not break yet. Be gentle with the cleaning as it is not heavy duty but you will be happy you invested in it, if you drink loose tea or herbal potions.
Enjoy
Easy to useApr 12, 2010 I read other reviews, about the clasp and the spots of rust, but I have had no issues with this item. I use it primarily in my large kettle with loose leaf tea to make large pitchers of ice tea, and while yes it does allow some of the tea to escape the majority has stayed in the ball so far. I have been using it in concert with a second filter that I use for hot tea, the Finum Teeli - Permanent Tea Filter - Large for Tea Pots and pour the tea back through that filter to get out the floaters. This filter, unlike the finum which is too small, is perfect for my largest tea kettle that makes the ice tea. I haven't had any issues with the latch or rusting. I hand wash the ball, pat it dry, and then hang it up in the air to finish drying.
Perfect Size. Not a Perfect Seal.Apr 12, 2010 It's your basic tea infuser, though a larger 3" size. I purchased this to make iced-tea using actual loose-leaf tea as opposed to the standard "bags". It's perfect for a 2 quart (or larger) pitcher.
Yes, the seal is not perfect -- some tea leaves may escape through the middle section. Not a huge deal, really. Those that escaped the tea infuser prison can easily be skimmed off the top of the finished tea or ingested without issue.
