Makes feeding baby easyFeb 06, 2006
By Grad Student I've had this food mill for about a month, and so far I really like it. It's relatively easy to use, and cleans up quickly in the dishwasher. I was worried that it would only grind up soft foods, but that hasn't been a problem. I've ground up pasta, rice, meat, veggies, and yesterday I ground up a gyros, and the food mill worked great.
One thing I don't like is the amount you grind up is relatively small, and my son (despite being a finicky eater) can eat two or three times as much as the food mill contains. Another thing I don't like is that it can get messy, especially when I'm trying to add more food to the mill. My aunt told me she took it with her to restaurants, but I definitely wouldn't want to use this at a fancy restaurant.
This also isn't appropriate if you want to make large batches of food; I would stick with the blender for that. But if you just want baby to be able to eat dinner with the rest of the family, then this is a great buy.

Piece of JunkNov 02, 2007

The food grate is plastic, not metal as the picture shows it to be. Couldn't even make applesauce with it. Piece of junk. The only thing I could get through the mill was a banana, and I can mash that with a fork. I recommend trying a higher end food mill.

If you want to feed your child metal, buy this one!!Jun 01, 2006
By babyface I recommend not buying this product. I used it to grind chicken, and was happy to see it working, until I noticed the chicken had a gray color to it on certain parts. It turns out the coating of metal on the grinder was actually rubbing off and getting on both the food being grinded and the ground up chicken. Making baby food at home is supposed to be healthy, but I beleive feeding your child metal is not considered part of their iron requirements.

Not as advertised.Apr 02, 2008
By M. Seest My grinder arrived with a plastic blade instead of the metal one advertised. I called Right Start and was told I would have to pay the shipping fees in order to exchange it so I gave it away and left feedback on Amazon. Someone at Right Start read my feedback and issued me a full refund for the product which I thought was pretty nice of them since I can't return it.

Crushing with your bare hands is easierNov 18, 2009
By C. Nguyen Please do not pay money for this device. I have nearly popped a blood vessel trying to grind food. It becomes at times a two person job, it does such a poor job with anything firmer than a very ripe peach. The rubber gasket is hard to remove and thus food particles will cake into the crevasses in a very disturbing and unhygienic way. There is no metal blade as the pictures suggest. It is a piece of grey plastic.
