This grinder does the deed with ease. The fill opening is a little smaller than the average spice jar, so it is both easy to fill and easy to empty the surplus unground spice back into the original jar. The only (slight) disappointment is that the hue of the red model leans very strongly toward orange, so it does not go well with the other truly red cookware and other items in my kitchen. Follow the instructions, and you should be very happy with this grinder for a long time.

I bought this for my mom for Christmas, and she LOVES it - its so easy to use, and keeps everything so neat and tidy! I would recommend this grinder for anyone!

I've tried several grinders and the Kuhn Rikon is my favorite. I like the fact that it grinds from the top and I set it back up so I don't have little circles of pepper every time I lift it up, it also means the part the salt or pepper comes out of isn't sitting on my counter tops. The rubbery top makes it easier to grip when my hands are a little damp or slick.

Very pleased with my purchase. I needed an extra grinder and I got more than I expected. Not only is it a handsome piece to show off in your kitchen but works extremely well. Grinds spices perfect and love the color red!

Having owned about every type of salt and pepper mill imaginable, from electrics to cranks to large body mills, both inexpensive and very expensive, I tried this one based on a review in "Eating Well" magazine. We've had 3 of them for about 7 years with all still going strong and I've recently purchased another for other spices. My wife was not pleased when I first purchased them due to the cost (which was still less than some "premium" mills that broke within the first year) but has to admit it was money well spent. I've not tried them on oily items like flax seed (yet) but for white, pink, green, and black peppercorns as well as sea salt, they work well and so far, have not needed a cleaning. Adjustment is easy by hand without the need for a screwdriver. Filling is equally easy due to the generous sized plug opening on the bottom. One of the best features is not having to clean up stray pepper and salt everywhere they have been set down.
