A guilty pleasureSep 23, 2007
By Martha I decided to buy this relatively expensive gadget because I was sick of cutting mozzarella di bufala with a knife and then trying to massage the squished pieces back into shape. With this mozzarella slicer, I can get beautifully uniform, perfectly formed slices in seconds, and I love it! The only downside is that the slicer is pretty bulky, so you can't just throw it in a drawer without thinking-- it needs to be assigned its own place, and in my teeny kitchen, storage space is always at a premium.

Love it!Apr 01, 2008
By V. Block I bought one of these today from a local shop. I just had happened to have purchased a mozzarella ball yesterday, and thought this would be perfect for cutting it up for pizza. Used it this evening, it did a perfect job. It is essentially a large, sturdy egg slicer. It has silicone on the bottom to keep it from sliding while slicing.

DisappointedOct 22, 2008
By W. C. LITTLE I've purchased several Batali products and have been more than pleased. So I didn't hesitate at all when I saw the Batali name even though this seemed a bit expensive. But I challenge anyone to slice a large piece of mozzarella with this. I have to cut them into 1/2" to 1" thick pieces and then "carefully" slice them with this slicer. I use it about once a week when I make pizza and am surprised it hasn't already broken.

Works great; a great addition to our summertime cooking...Jul 02, 2011

Mozzarella is a great member of the cheese family. During the summer we often use it to make our version of caprese salad (slices of mozzarella, tomato, purple onion and basil leaves for ours: a great mix of color, texture and tastes).
If you've used mozzarella balls in your cooking, then know what a chore slicing it with a knife is.
This slicer eliminates the hassle and cuts mozzarella slicing (and for us, caprese salad preparation time) significantly as creates uniform mozzarella slices in a minimal time.
Worth making space for in your kitchen drawers!

mozzarella slicerJul 20, 2008

I purchased this recently. Used it 3 times on fresh mozzarella and one of the wires snapped. While I was happy with how it performed, I didn't expect it to break after 3 uses....
