I USE IT DAILY TO MAKE BACONDec 05, 2006

I like this bacon plate because of it's circular size which is great for my microwave. I use it daily to make one to three slices of bacon for family breakfast. I've had it for over six years and was looking for another one (via the internet) because it's starting to look tired and browning. I thought it was perfect until I read the negative reviews. But then again, I never tried to "grill" a burger in the microwave??? One side is smooth, I assume for defrosting and the other has elevated "grill" lines. The fat drains off nicely which I store in a baby food jar in the fridge to flavor veggies, etc. When I bought this product it did not come with a grill cover. Anytime you use a plastic cover in a microwave, the end product will be a steamed result. (Great for veggies)

Don't buyMay 10, 2006
By E. Maddox Seriously disappointed. It simply doesn't work well. I am giving it a #1 because I will use it for warming foods, the purchase price wasn't totally lost. If one puts on the cover, the bacon is steamed, if one takes off the cover the bacon requires paper towels to hold down splatters. I didn't have to buy this product to use paper towels, they already worked on my own plates.

Bacon GrillMar 02, 2006
By Liz This is a circular grill and fits nicely in the microwave on the revolving dish. Cooks bacon evenly and quickly. Goes into the dishwasher, on the bottom tray, and comes out clean (unlike my previous grills). Would highly recommend it.

Great for Bacon-Needs work for meatJun 24, 2006
By John Gooch This works as advertised for bacon, and I am loving the convenience of it. However, though I can make it work for cooking ground turkey for turkey burgers, it could be a bit deeper to handle the extra grease, and with longer handles as I get slightly burned when taking it out of the microwave.
Despite these shortcomings, it has replaced my T-Fal and George Foreman grills, which made quite a mess when cooking inside, and took a bit of work to clean.
That reminds me of another shortcoming, this needs to come with a 'fork' that fits the grooves in order to make it easy to remove the burgers from the plate. Right now I am using my George Foreman grill fork to do this, and it does not work very well as it was designed for narrower grooves.

The best bacon cooker available - have used for years.Oct 01, 2007
By Jeffrey Nicholson

We have used one of these with a cover for many years - we have not found an easier way to cook bacon without the mess or grease splatter. I drilled holes in the cover to let the steam out, but without letting the splatter out. It would be helpful if they made a cover with steam holes. After many uses, the base becomes yellowed and takes the scratchy side of the sponge to clean between the splines, but it is still much easier than cooking bacon in a frying pan. We cook bacon every week and highly recommend it. We tried all the others - you need to be sure to have am 11 inch cover that fits inside the edges. We replace the base every four-five years after it gets too yellowed and brittle.
