5Great knife for bread and tomatoesSep 27, 2008
By R. Brook
This knife feels good in the hand. It does a great job on bread. As a bonus, in this season (late Sept.) of wonderful, ripe tomatoes, it does a great job of clean cutting even soft tomatoes.

I had originally tried a higher-rated (from a leading cooking magazine) bread knife by Forschner. R H. Forschner by Victorinox 10-1/4-Inch Curved Blade Bread Knife, Black Fibrox Handle The problem with that knife was that it is too large to be comfortable to use with a smaller hand, and it won't fit most knife racks except in the one slot reserved for your big chef's knife.

5Excellent Bread KnifeAug 07, 2010
By Camp Cook
This knife does an excellent job slicing bread and other soft, easily compressed and delecate food without tearing or distorting the product. It is just the right size for the job. It glides through all types of bread with ease and leaves great looking slices. Now all I have to do is keep my daughters from adding it to their own knife selections before they get the one that we'll be giving them for Christmas. Oxo has a fine line of cutlery.

5Super bread-and-everything else knife!Mar 21, 2010
By silkpjs
Undeterred by the reviewer who complained that this knife doesn't work for bread, I ordered it. Not only is it a proficient bread knife, the fact that it is honed on only one side and has a substantial grip gives you real wrist control over how your slice is going. I make all my own bread and have been looking for a knife that would slice it without tearing up some of the more delicate loaves. This is it, and at a great price!

2Grip is great, but cuts at an angleMay 05, 2009
By A. Seidel
Oxo Good Grips Professional 8-Inch Bread Knife
This knife is made of good quality steel and has a good grip and feel as well. However, the way it slices bread is totally unacceptable. I bake my own bread, both rye and wheat bread, and I have yet to produce a decent slice with this knife that did not come out as a wedge. In other words the knife pulls to the left (a lot, not just a little) while cutting. The blade has a very nice serrated edge on one side and on the other side it is smooth. Someone told me that is the reason for it cutting in that manner, however the manufacturer's customer service people say it's made like this on purpose. It cuts o.k. through vegetables, but I bought it for bread, and it is called a "Bread Knife".

5Great knives!Jan 03, 2010
By J. Cadoret
I bought this knife to create a "set" for my mother. The knives lived up to all the other reviews. They were easy to handle and worked great.
