Oxo's Collapsible Colander is a great little tool. Made of silicone, it is light weight and withstands heat well. This makes it ideal for dipping into boiling water to remove items, if necessary.
This colander fits perfectly inside my 2-quart saucepan, so I would estimate it can hold that amount of pasta or other food that might need to be drained. It collapses fairly easily and is 1 1/2 inches high when fully collapsed. This is its highest point which is closest to the handle. The holes are approximately 1/8 inch in diameter; this may limit its use if you cook thinner pastas or boil and drain rice, as I sometimes do. This colander is about 15 inches long from the end of its handle to the hook/loop opposite the handle.
I am very pleased with this colander and wish that I had purchased mine from Amazon since their 4 for 3 promotion makes it a great buy. You will definitely enjoy using this item if you decide to purchase it.

I purchased this strainer for making pasta. It is a little smaller than I envisioned, but holds 2 pounds of pasta without a problem. The hook on the end is perfect for resting on the edge of a sink or on a pot. The silicone resists heat to any degree one's stove will reach. Clean-up is very easy (no sticking). Highly recommended. I took off one star due to the sometimes stubbornness of the silicone to collapse for storage. Just requires 2 hands and a little persistence.

I love this colander since it is easy to store. Since it is silicone you can use it for hot or cold food. It is easy to rinse your food and allows you to save the juice or water to use in cooking for added flavor and vitamins.

This is a great colander, but be aware that it is SMALLER than the information says. It is about 6" in diameter as the other reviewer says. Great for steaming small amounts of stuff. I have informed Amazon of the size error, maybe it will be corrected one day.

Takes up less space than a regular hand colander, which can be an issue in a small kitchen. Handy for car trips when you might stay places that have minimal cooking facilities and/or camping. Plus it's kind of cool . . . like a lot of OXO stuff . . . it adds to the quality and variety of cooking implements as opposed to just replicating a traditional form.
