Oxo Stainless Small Scoop ColanderJul 11, 2006
By Nevin Dawn Harmison This one Oxo stainless scoop/colander has replaced two old-style mesh strainers, as well as a worn out slotted cooking spoon, in my kitchen cabinets! It is easy to use and clean (dishwasher safe)and the scoop is long-lasting stainless with the Oxo handle that is comfortable and provides a good grip.
As a strainer/colander, the scoop rests on each side of my sink for efficient draining of pasta or to hold cleaned fruit or vegetables. The scoop is useful as a slotted spoon to add or remove items from pans of hot liquids.
I liked this small Oxo scoop/colander so much that I ordered the large size scoop/colander next. Now I have eliminated two dingy plastic colanders in addition to those other three utensils. Replacing five old and rusty items with only two stainless products made good sense to me. I recommend both of them!

Spoontopia!Aug 08, 2008

This is truly a versatile kitchen tool. I use it for noodles, wontons, veggies and more. Place it in a pan with of water and bring it to a slow boil. Place two eggs directly into the scoop and poach them to perfection, lift them out and leave very little mess in your pan. The grips fit firmly in your hand and there is a good balance to the unit. I would highly recommend this scoop to anyone who really enjoys good kitchen tools.

Great little colander!Dec 23, 2008
By Amelia F. Walton I use this to wash little amounts of things (like fruit or veggies) when I don't want to use the big colander. It's also great for scooping things out of boiling water (like Spätzle or dumplings) and is really durable. Just about the perfect length to stradle a sink for draining. Highly recommend!

Nice kitchen toolJan 10, 2010
By Monkey's Eyebrow This smaller size works well in most pots ... even the smaller ones. Makes it quick and easy to scoop out and serve food rather than having to take a hot pot to the sink to drain or dirty a large colander. Cleans easily in the dishwasher. Useful addition to the kitchen.

Sturdy, Perfect-sized holesJan 10, 2010

This Oxo Good Grips scoop is perfect for straining a small batch of noodles, vegetables, pretty much anything. The holes are very smooth, so they don't pick up extra residue from food. The holes are small enough that I can strain small food items, which has been a problem with many past strainers. It does not have legs like a colander, but the ledge around the outside edge makes it easy to lay across the top of a pan. Since buying this item, I have seen a Food Network chef using it. If you like high-quality kitchen utensils, you'll like this.
