Fine Ice Cream ScoopNov 05, 2010
By amazon4rrh This is the last ice cream scoop you'll ever need. The handle is large enough to provide good leverage and a comfortable feel. The scoop is solid stainless steel so no blistering or peeling plating as seems to be chronic with the plated pot-metal types. OXO also markets the pot-metal type so be sure to get the one that's SOLID STAINLESS STEEL.

Best Ice Cream Scoop EverFeb 22, 2011
By J. R. Nixon I love me some ice cream and this heavy duty tool does the trick. Instantly I was impressed with the quality; you can really feel the weight on this tool. My wife joked about using it to workout in place of a barbell. That said, you don't have to worry about this thing not breaking through the hard stuff. It's not a miracle worker so if you have your fridge set for absolute zero it'll still take some muscle to get through it. What's nice though is to won't bubble, chip, peel or BEND when you are carving out your icy fortune.

Great Function and QuailityJun 10, 2011
By Slipmatt If you want to buy one scoop in your life that wont break or rust, buy now!
I grew tired of buying the crap at local stores that rusted or broke. Get a stainless steel scoop with no moving parts and you'll be handing it down to your grand children. That is why I got this scoop and so far, it's living up to my expectation.

The new best ice cream scoop!Mar 17, 2011
By Paul Gifford This scoop replaced a Zyliss Metal Ice-Cream Scoop which we'd had for years. I retired it after finding metal flakes from the scoop in my bowl of ice cream. For a replacement scoop I had two few criteria:
- Stainless steel scoop - didn't want more metal flakes - No mechanical gimmicks like a button or lever to push to eject the ice cream
I did consider the Zyliss again briefly, because it is a good scoop, but recent reviews indicate the metal is flaking off a lot faster than it used to. Our scoop was fine for years before we noticed pitting and bubbling of the metal coating.
I usually don't consider OXO products because I've had a few and I don't like the handle with the soft rubber sides, like on this ice cream scoop: Oxo Steel Ice Cream Scoop.
This scoop is the best scoop I've used. The scoop portion is stainless steel and it has a great shape to it. The tip is pointed which makes it easy to get the scoop moving in very hard or dense ice cream. We sometimes buy Costco's super premium vanilla ice cream which is very dense - it's pretty easy to scoop with this scoop.
The ice cream curls up with this product as you scoop it. That was one complaint I had against the Zyliss scoop - the ice cream would overrun the scoop and get on my hand. This scoop is dishwasher safe, too, and so far so good, it's holding up so far to nightly trips through the dishwasher.
You've probably looked at a lot of ice cream scoops...I know I did. I even read America's Test Kitchen's review of ice cream scoops. They favored the Rösle 12741 Ice Cream Scoop followed by the Zeroll Original 2-Ounce Zeroll Aluminum Scoop. I didn't get the first one because it sounds like (from reviews) the quality has gone down since the manufacturing moved from Germany to China, and I didn't buy the 2nd one because it's not dishwasher safe (yeah, I'm lazy like that). This scoop is also made in China but it appears very well made and I expect it to hold up for years.
Trust me, this is the ice cream scoop to buy. No gimmicks, just a good, solid, stainless steel ice cream scoop. Stop spending so much time looking at scoops and just get this one.

PerfectFeb 17, 2011

"not quite a geek"
It's just and Ice Cream Scoop so I'd hope we can get through this in 4 sentences or less.
If you're reading this review then like me you have probably had years of disappointment and are still looking for the one true scoop.
The pointed tip and narrow profile means that my daughter with a condition that weakens her hands can still serve herself hard ice cream from the back of the freezer.
The profile of the curve means a fatty like me can grab half a carton in one scoop if no one is looking.
Stainless means you can chuck it in the dishwasher although you hardly need to because nothing sticks.
I need to buy a few more since my siblings have tried to take this one home after parties.
That's seven but three don't count :-}
