Didn't really need the extra wiresJan 22, 2008
By S. Robinson The extra wires may come in handy for my heirs, but are probably overkill for a household. I ordered the wires just because they were there, in case I ever needed a replacement. The slicer comes with a "loaded wire" and 2 replacements. Unless you do nothing but slice cheese, I suspect that the extra wires will never be needed.
Good, but be carefulMay 20, 2012

The Oxo cheese slicer is good for years, with the wire replacements. But be VERY careful when you install a wire. You MUST NOT cross-thread the end onto the threads inside the handle, as they are all plastic. If you strip the threads, new wires will not stay in place. If you're careful, this is a good product, but they should have used metal threads on the tightening screw.
At last a cheese cutter that you don't have to replace when the wire breaksApr 30, 2012

OXO has done it right. Their cheese cutter with replaceable wires cutters gives you a quality instrument with an adjustable/replaceable wire cutter. Over time and use, the wire cutter does stretch or the ends pull out of the terminators so no matter how careful you are, you will need to occasionally replace the wire cutter. However if you leave the wire cutter drawn tight in the drawer, you will end up replacing it more often. So loosen it before storing the cutter and then tighten it up with the thumb knurl when you go to use it.
Worked on different Model PerfectlyOct 10, 2011
By Davis_Tech I had another brand of cheese slicer and this worked perfect!
Protip: Use the holes on the black to get great tension.
Cheese Cutting at its best!Jul 13, 2011
By James Glen Having used every cheese cuting device known to man, I have found the OXO Good Grip to be the best, and the Wire Replaccements are a reliable back up. I don't have to run to the store to buy another brand or damage a kitchen knife.
