Essential ToolFeb 24, 2008
By Al Chartreux Anyone who is going to be cooking with lemons or limes needs to have this reamer in their kitchen. It's much easier on your wrists than using a countertop juicer. If you hold the citrus fruit in your palm cut side facing up when juicing it with the reamer, you'll get all the juice out, but most of the pits will stay inside the fruit. The grooves are cut sharply and deeply and make it easy to crush into the fruit.

Excellent!Oct 04, 2005
By Tell It Like It Is This is by far the best way to juice citrus fruits. Its especially good if you have arthritis or repetative stress injury that makes using the old fashion hand juicers harder. Of course, you could try using electric juicers, but they can be a pain to wash after your done (like any juicer). I strongly prefer this method over all that I have used.

Wood cracked on OXO Good Grips Wooden ReamerJan 30, 2011

I like the feel of this in my hand, but after the first washing, the wood cracked in several places. There were no washing instructions included so perhaps I used water that was too warm/hot. I didn't use soap, but I rinsed it before using it. Then I used it to get the juice out of about 40 key limes. I don't know if it was the acid of the key lime juice or the water temperature. I wish it had care instructions so I would know what I did wrong, if anything.

OXO Good Grips Wooden Reamer
A very nice hand reamer for my citrus, it's lightweight and sits comfortably in my hand as most OXO brand utensils do...My only recommendation is to rinse it off the moment you're done and let it dry completely before storing, since it's wooden...In future I think if it breaks (from wear and tear) or goes missing, although there's nothing wrong with this one, I'll buy OXO's aluminum reamer instead so I don't have to worry about the preservation of a wooden utensil.

better than squeezingNov 16, 2010
By moving forward i have an old reamer that i love. these tend to work better than a hand squeezer. however, i was surprised when i saw how big and heavy the handle was on this item. a little cumbersome for those with physical restrictions. would like to have seen a hook on the end for hanging, as it takes a lot of drawer space. the wood still works better than the plastic varieties.
