didn't last longNov 22, 2005
By Mom of two boys This stopper came apart when I tried to remove it during it's second use. When I first put the stopper in the bottle, it was loose, although when I opened it a few days later, the seal was enough to cause it to break (with a weak pull). It also adds about an inch to the bottle height which could cause storage problems. I recommend a stopper that has a lever on top that fits the stopper to the bottle opening (and also doesn't add as much height). I had an inexpensive one from Crate and Barrel that worked great but I can't find it (guessing it got thrown away).

Great option for temporary wine storageAug 18, 2009

I've tried several different sorts of stopper, and these are clearly the best I've run into for short-term storage after opening. While the wine won't keep as long as it would using a vacuum or other resealing system, these stoppers do fit snugly enough to lay the bottle on its side; in addition, the slightly conical shape means that they can fit a wider range of bottles than some other stoppers. They rinse off easily and also do well in the dishwasher.

Stop W(h)ining!Jan 23, 2009
By Donna When the cork resists going back into the bottle, this stopper is an easy, ready alternative.

Got one and I'm here to get moreDec 07, 2008
By John N I've been using one of these for a year on just two brands of wine which is all I buy. One bottle opening is slightly bigger then the other and this stopper has always been in one or the other with the bottle always on its side. Once in a while I see a slight drip on the shelf with the bigger bottle but not often. Prior to the Oxo I recieved another brand set of fancy stoppers as a gift but they had a steep taper to the rubber part and testing it out standing vertical it always pushed itself out by the next day. I believed the taper was causing it so I tossed them and went back to plain old corks again. I bought the Oxo because it had little or no taper to it and I thought it would work better and it did. I'm very pleased with it and I'm writing this review since I'm here to order some more for myself and for gifts. It works well on my two brands of wine but don't know how much other bottles vary on the opening size. I might be just lucky but I think it's worth trying at least one. (edit 2/11/12)Just ordered another one to get an order up to the free shipping limit. I don't need it because the ones I've had for several years now still work perfect. I learned a little trick to insure a good no drip seal as I always store the bottles laying on their side. Simply rinse the stopper under the faucet, give it a shake & shove it in. Being wet seems to improve the seating of those rubber ribs. Since I've been doing that I've eliminated that once in a while little drip.

Works, but a little tallDec 23, 2007

I bought one of these a couple of years ago, and it does work. The rows of fins at the bottom will stop the wine from leaking, even when the bottle is placed on its side (like in the refrigerator). It is chunky, stainless steel, and easy to hold and use.
The drawback is that it is pretty tall, which means that you'll definitely be laying that bottle down horizontally as it won't fit in the door with this on top.
