Not for the weak or shaky.Mar 15, 2004
I had misgivings about this juicer because I could find no previous review, and reviews of its stainless steel counterpart were mostly bad. Still I felt that its cast iron base, and its larger, more comfortable handle might make it a worthwhile purchase. I was seriously disappointed. The juicer is reputed to exert 2000 pounds of pressure on an orange---but I found that I had to exert about 60 pounds on the handle to get it to completely close over the orange. The orange itself looked crushed, tortured, scourged, flayed, and incompletely split into messy quarters, but considerable juice was still in the pulp. Worse, the handle is not located over the orange, but is off center, so that when I squeezed the second orange, the pressure on the handle caused the whole machine to pull off its suction cups and tip over to the right, spilling juice all over the machine and floor. there was no reason to believe that this scenario will not repeat itself each time I use this machine. The machine has therefore been nicely repacked in its carton and is on its way back to Amazon.com.

Well, it looked sturdy.....Oct 29, 2004

We used this juicer for a year. It does take a surprisingly strong arm to operate, considering all that heavy metal and long lever. It was not all that easy to clean. And the lever comes down off center, the hinges get locked, and eventually broke leaving a very heavy, not repairable piece of metal for the trash. We've had 19.99 electric models that lasted longer, made better juice, and were easier to clean - and that's what I'm cruising Amazon for today.

Suckered...Dec 26, 2007
By A. Scott Tribble My Sister and I bought this juicer from a store in town. It was adorable, seemed sturdy, and looked like it would work well for the box of oranges my dad sent for Christmas.
Well, Christmas morning we started juicing and were sorely disappointed in the little guy's performance. It wobbled on the counter top - the four squishy suction cups were insufficient support for the downward force required to squeeze the orange. Even with pressure on the back-side of the juicer, a cup placed for collection is in danger of toppling over with the machine. To add insult to injury, the squished orange half created a vacuum between the cone, the inside of the orange, and the top of the juicer. We had to haul upwards on the handle to get it to release - a difficult action the machine was not designed for. After about five oranges, it was stuck so tight that we gave up and let it sit the rest of Christmas Day.
Today, we took the juicer back to the store and ordered a Hamilton Beach juicer from Amazon... a model that has been in my father's house since my infancy.
I have never reviewed a product before, but I don't want anyone else to be suckered by this little sucker!

Product arrived with a broken cotter gasket and was too difficult to operate. Returned and bought an electric version ... much better!

Not Really Worth the HassleSep 15, 2006
By Eva I have owned my Orange X juice press for four years. I took it to the thrift store this morning and am searching for a replacement. I purchased the juicer with the intent of squeezing lemons, limes and oranges for cooking purposes. It looks nice on my counter and I found it wasn't all that difficult to clean.
I have given up on it, however, due to the "tipping over" mentioned in previous reviews. I'm not one to give up...so I tried applying pressure to the back of the unit while pulling the lever, but there isn't really any place to hold on to. I tried lubricating the handle and that seemed to help for awhile but I got tired of dragging the thing out to the garage to spray it and fool around with it so I could squeeze a couple of limes for the guacamole. I can't imagine using it to press oranges in any quantity. I think it might work if you could figure out a way to bolt it to your counter?????
If the manufacturer fixes the balance issue, I will buy another one.
