 just right for meMay 22, 2010
I hate taking out my heavy Chinese cleaver but I love using this to smash garlic out of its skin. It's weighted in a way that it is comfortable in my hand and takes very little strength to give a good whack. This pounder is going to be with me for a lifetime.

I generally like Oxo products, but the non-stick surface on the Oxo Good Grips Meat Pounder is flaking off the surface. The design is good, but the material is not acceptable.

NOT dishwasher safe or designed wellMar 13, 2010
The good: It looks nice
The bad:
1) It is not dishwasher safe. Finish flakes off and aluminum corrodes after only a few washings.
2) The handle is too short to use for pounding on it's side.
3) Prolonged use inflicts pain on your hand while pounding using the large round surface. Our hands don't work well as hammers.
I would not recommend this particular model to anyone.

Much heavier than the one I almost bought at the grocery store. A few quick hits and my chicken was flat. In fact, I actually pounded it through the ziploc bag!

Love the product. Works great and does much better job than a can of corn, which I used to use. Has a good weight to it. I would buy again.
