Description:

In the Grimm story "Hansel & Gretel", the old woman (who ate children) asked Gretel if she could check the temperature of the oven to feel if it was hot enough. Gretel replied that she didn't know how. As the old woman demonstrated, Gretel pushed the old lady into the oven. That led to the happy ending of the story.
Of course, that story could have been quite different if the old woman equipped her stove with the Oxo 1051106 Good Grips Oven Thermometer. Recipes often require very exact temperatures for stable results. Many ovens provide temperatures that may vary in accuracy. The best way is to have a thermometer mounted within the heating chamber. This thermometer does just that. It's easy to read and accurate.
When it comes to baking and roasting, you just may find that the Oxo Good Grips Oven Thermometer is a true life saver. From hereon in, you and your oven will have many happy ever afters.

4Easy to Read Oven ThermometerJan 05, 2003
By R. A. Higgins "rsahiggins"
The frosted glass face of this oven thermometer makes it very easy to read the oven temperature with the oven light turned on without needing to open the oven door, excellent for preventing heat loss that occurs if the door needs to be opened to read the thermometer. It stands in an easy to read position if mounted above the oven rack, and the clips are easy to use. When mounted under the oven rack the thermometer tilts slightly away from view making the temperature a bit difficult to read at that angle, and thus a 4 star rating instead of 5. When comparing this product to others on the market, this is my favorite thermometer in it's price range.

5Accurate, Easy to readAug 04, 2003

this oven thermometer allows the oven light to pass from the back and illuminate its face, making it very easy to read. it clips on the oven rack so placement is not a problem.

i've tested this thermometer and two others together and its accuracy is very good. this thermometer takes a while to get to the preheated temperature. to me, signals it's accuracy (i don't believe that an oven can get to 350F in 5 minutes--more like 15-20 minutes).

this is probably one of the best oven thermometers around at a decent price.

5Smarter than your average thermometerApr 05, 2003

2 things make this thermometer stand out:

1) it clips to your oven rack - since i was constantly knocking over my old oven thermometer, this is a big plus for me.

2) the face is clear, and so is backlit by the oven light. i can even read it with the door closed.

it seems pretty accurate too. highly recommended.

2WAY too slow registering tempJan 01, 2006
By Cindy M
Although I love the way it clips onto the oven rack, and it's VERY easy to read, it took about 15-20 minutes to "register" the temperature of the oven.

5Finally, I can see the temperature!Aug 13, 2005
By Auntie Kat~
I purchased a very high rated oven thermometer (Taylor, mentioned on America's Test Kitchen) and was immediately dissatisfied. It never seemed to get the accurate temperature, nor could I see the dial with out opening my oven (causing my oven to lose, what, 50 degrees?).

I was steadfast with this Taylor thermometer because of its high rating, but finally purchased the Oxo Good Grips 1051106 Oven Thermometer.

I could NOT be more pleased! It is accurate (on the money!) and the best feature of all is that I can see it (SEE THE TEMPERATURE) with the oven door CLOSED!!

I'm so pleased.
