Through Thick and ThinJun 13, 2010
By Serendipity I love thin slices of cheese, so thin it practically melts in your mouth. This is especially challenging using a hand-held slicer since the force used to press down and against the cheese to attempt to keep the thickness constant frequently causes the slice to skip, and it's a pain in the butt! If you can even find one that actually adjusts thinner than a monstrous 1/4 inch anymore.
With this slicer it was easy to maneuver the cheese and gauge the thickness of the slices, and I had no trouble keeping the wire lined up with the groove. Thick or thin, it is effortless. It's beautiful and I am overjoyed with both it's style and performance.
I also found it easy to clean, even in the groove.
Altogether a great deal for the price.

GREAT cheese slicer!Feb 08, 2010
By speedybee62 This is not only functional, but it's beautiful too! The marble is high quality and so far the cutting mechanism has worked beautifully. I bought extra cutting wires just in case I ever need one, but it seems to handle the cheese fine--haven't noticed it straining to cut through it. Very satisfied.

Great productJul 23, 2008
By W. Smith I have had the same Prodyne beechwood cheese slicer for over 10 years and I use it several times a week. I have had to replace the wire a couple of times but it hasn't been a problem to call the company and ask for a new wire. Once you have this slicer, you will never want to slice cheese with a knife again.

It's just what I expectedJan 16, 2010
By C. Wyman This is a nice clean cutting cheese slicer, but cleaning is a little challenging. You have to make sure you get the cheese out of the narrow groove. The only real complaint I have is that it came with a broken wire blade so I had to mail in the broken one to receive a replacement. It's also a little challenging to get the wire hooked up properly and I'm a pretty capable assembler.

Cheap construction. Wouldn't buy again.Jan 21, 2010
By R. Ramsey I got this slicer as a Christmas gift for my brother and his wife. It came in the mail just a few days before Christmas. If I'd had time to send it back, I would have. Other than the nice hefty block of marble, it feels like something I bought at the dollar store. The arm, plastic handle, and wire all seem prone to breakage and just feel cheap. There is a note on the bottom telling you how to align the wire with the slot...it says to simply slide the arm in or out of the block as needed. There's no adjustment screw, or notched settings or anything...nothing to keep the arm in the right place once you have the wire aligned.
Cheap cheap cheap.
