5Great 4.5" press / The Dimple is importantApr 08, 2009
By Clay Cope "ClayCope"
The press produces just over 4.5" diameter burgers and are just perfect for fitting buns. You can obviously make them as thick as you like.

After reading some of the other reviews, I have a couple of comments.
- The Dimple is important. Have you ever noticed that burgers tend to "dome" up while cooking? The dimple prevents this from happening. This explains why Costco has a hole in the middle of their pre-pattied burgers. If they didn't, the burgers would end up like a baseball. The thicker the patty, the greater the "dome" effect.
- This press is dishwasher safe. Need I say anything else.
- The removable dimple insert is a great addition. After pressing, simply remove and flip your patty where ever you want it.
- Regarding meat, I would highly recommend from ground chuck. If you must used ground beef, you want at least 15% fat to give it some flavor.
- Although the press is made of plastic, it's plenty sturdy enough to press a patty.

Great press. Definitely worth the $5 amazon has it listed at.

55 STARS! Works like they say!Nov 07, 2008
By GDF "goldlightning"
Excellent product, very easy to use and makes uniform burgers for the grill and the dimple in the middle ensures there is no "plumping up" in the middle.

When we make them we lay a sheet of plastic wrap underneath with half hanging over, make the paddy, flip it over and fold the other half of the plastic wrap and its sealed ready for storage or keeps the burgers from sticking together. Very quick without a mess.

Super nice invention!

5Inexpensive and easy to use and cleanJan 31, 2010
By W. Helms
I used this item for the first time yesterday to make some chicken burgers. I prefer ground beef, but had some chicken that I ground up get my burger "fix".

The press needs so instructions as it is obvious on how to use it. I was able to press some nice burgers together and remove them easily. The dimple maker in the press is great to prevent the doming effect that ground beef gets when grilled.

I have three other presses. The $24 multi-piece unit, as sold on this site, is hard to clean and will not be used again.

Hint: colder meat seems to press easier than the rest.

5If you want some good looking burgers, this will make a lot of them!Oct 19, 2010
By Timothy B. Riley
I always buy the freshest ground beef that I can find for my burger creations, usually 80/20 as the leaner meat has little flavor. I have grown fond of hand-formed patties and have little trouble shaping a nice looking burger with my own two mitts. However, not everyone appreciates a burger-in-the-rough, some folks like nice, round edges, like what you get at a restaurant. When I make more than half dozen patties I use this burger press.

I like a thick burger and this press can handle more than a half pound of beef, or you can make the patty thinner and more dainty if you wish. The construction is of thick, heavy-duty, white plastic that holds up well to a lot of use as well as the heat of automatic dishwashers. The dimple insert works and I use use it, but mostly because it makes it easier to lift the burger out of the press. As for making the dimple itself, it works but hey, that's what thumbs are for!

TIP: Any grill-meister who had to cook burgers for a large group has run into the problem of how to keep the doneness of the patties straight. Aunt Sue wants her's well done, little Johnny prefers medium and uncle Fred want his rare. Pre-make the patties in 4, 6 and 8 oz. sizes. Put them on and take them off the grill all at the same time. The small ones will be well-done, medium sized patties will be medium and the large will be rare. This way they are all ready at once and it will be easy to tell which is which (if someone wants a bigger well-done burger then just give them two patties.)

The world could use more kitchen products like this one. Well designed, well made and well priced. This would make a nice hostess gift, especially if you were invited to a Bar-B-Que. 5 stars!
