By Spyce The RSVP food mill is an economical and efficient means to pureeing food such as tomatoes, potatoes, and fruit. I started not to get this because it's plastic and history has shown that for me, most of those items wind up in the trash. However, after looking at the prices on the other brands and reading a review somewhere about another plastic food mill that's very similar to this one, I decided to get it.
Even though it's plastic, it's pretty durable and can sit on top of a hot pot. Some may not like it because the feet are not adjustable, but there are enough notches on the legs to accommodate a variety of pot or bowl sizes. It's obviously not intended for huge pots or mixing bowls. I use it over a pot that's about 8" across the top.
The mill comes with 3 stainless steel blades. The description says 18/10. The blades are sturdy and fit snugly in the bowl. The handle has to be pressed into the notches on the side of the bowl using a bit of force, but it doesn't require anything more than a little effort.
The food mill is 2.5 quarts, which is enough for my needs. I cut up and cooked about 6 medium sized red potatoes, drained them and put them all into the food mill. It was a little to full, but after a few turns that problem was solved. I used the coarse blade and processed all of the potatoes in a few minutes. Since I didn't peel the potatoes, I had to scrape the blade off once to move the peel out of the way. The mill did a great job, and I was satisfied with the results.

A really great surpriseAug 16, 2009
By K. Herma I truly love homemade tomato juice, but making it was always labor-intensive. I bought the mill thinking it would probably be just one more gadget to clutter my utility room shelf. What a delightful surprise! It works like a dream. It's very easy to use and does a wonderful job. One of the best investments I've made in a long time.

By Elizabeth This is a great product for the money! Does exactly what it is suppose to do. I mush baby food and it works perfect for this purpose. Cleans up easy too.

Very cheap and not well madeAug 29, 2010
By Lisa Adams I really was confused by all the great reviews for this product. It is a plastic piece of junk. Do yourself a favor and spend a few more dollars on a more high-end model. I tried to made tomato sauce with this and had to keep pushing the tomatoes through the grates myself. It made a big mess and kept moving all over the place. The spinning piece that pushes the food through the grates scraped against the grate, as well, and tiny shards flaked off into my tomatoes. I would return this item, but I had it for a few months before I tried it. I will definitely try something more substantial for my next food mill.

Great food millOct 21, 2009
By AP Mom of 4 I recently bought a Norpro metal food mill and the thing broke after the first use. It was total garbage and I returned it and looked online for a better one. I saw good reviews for this one but was skeptical because I'm usually not a fan of plastic. I thought a metal one would be sturdier but the good reviews convinced me. The mill came yesterday and I love it! The three disks make it easy to do many more things than the standard food mill, it's sturdy, it works better and it sits on many sizes of bowls or pans because of the design. My 11 y/o just used it on tomatoes to make homemade spaghetti sauce for dinner, no need to boil and peel the tomatoes or remove the seeds first.
The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it's $5 higher today than when I ordered it a week ago. It's annoying that Amazon fiddles with its prices whenever anything gets popular. On the bright side, now you don't have to order filler to get free shipping. ;)
This is well designed, well made and a great product.
