Bamboo is 16% harder than maple, making it an excellent cutting surface. Bamboo is actually a grass that grows to a harvestable height of 60 feet in about 3 to 5 years, growing as much as 2 feet per day. It has an extensive root system that continually sends up new shoots, naturally replenishing itself. It does not require replanting, making it one of the most renewable resources known. Totally Bamboo uses 'Moso' timber bamboo which is neither a food source nor a habitat for the Giant Panda. Totally Bamboo's cutting boards are assembled with approved food-grade glue -- none of their products are made with formaldehyde-based glue. No dyes or stains are used in the manufacturing process. The pleasing designs are created by using the naturally occurring variations within the wood grain. Totally Bamboo prides itself on using only premium hand-selected bamboo, innovative design, exemplary craftmanship, and fair labor policies. | | | Features: | |

"An expert is a former drip under pressure."
This is a primo cutting board. The groove collects the juices from tomatoes and other veggies so it doesn't make a mess on my counter. I'm able to pour them into the finished product and save all the good vitamins and minerals. It doesn't stain and the hard finish has yet to get a cut anywhere on it. I've had it for well over a year so any defects would have shown up by now. You can't go wrong with this one.

Fulfilled most of my criteria...Oct 30, 2010
By J. Nadeau I like the look of the side grain bamboo, and the build quality seems good after one month's use. While I am happy with my purchase, a couple things keep it from being perfect. Perhaps most problematic, the groove for liquids should really be deeper - of course, this may be impractical because the board itself is fairly thin. Also, for some time after I received it, very small splinters lifted off the surface. The flat grain cut of bamboo really seems to promote this, but I'm not too concerned because this problem has abated with multiple washings. This board really does need regular applications of oil.

Wonderful cutting boardDec 28, 2009
By Sandy A This is the best cutting board I have ever owned. It's big which is what I was after. It's so comfortable to cut on (is that possible?). I use one side for cutting and the other for rolling out dough onto.

It warpsJan 30, 2011
By PattiH I did like this cutting board and took care of it by hand washing and using the oil after use. The cutting board warped after a month of use. I use this cutting board now for letting my meats to rest. I went back to the wooden cutting board at IKEA, which last a long time.
