Description:

Totally Bamboo's Salt Box¿cute, simple and easy to use. The Salt Box has an easy slide-off top that rotates a full 360 degrees and has enough space to store your favorite spices and other items. Wide opening allows plenty of room for larger hands or spoons to reach in to grab your favorite seasoning. No stains or paint are used to create the Salt Box's scrumptious Honey shade. This color is created in a very specialized heating process which caramelizes the natural sugar in the wood; it is permanent and will not fade or wash out. Care: wash with warm water and mild detergent and occasionally wipe with mineral oil (Do not clean in the dishwasher). An Ecological wonder, Bamboo is a grass that grows to a harvestable height of 60 feet in 3 to 5 years. It has an extensive root system that continually develops new shoots thus not requiring replanting making it an incredible self-renewing resource and a brilliant alternative to the wide spread clear cutting of our world's hard wood forests. Do the world a favor¿ Do Bamboo.

16% harder than maple, the Moso Bamboo is cured to not split or warp with time

5Lovely Salt BoxNov 22, 2007
By Sara-s
This beautiful box holds about half a cup of salt. That's ample, since I use it sparingly. It looks great at my table, without taking up an excessive amount of space. It is easy to open & close and I like the fact that is it made of environmentally-friendly bamboo.

5Lovely....Jan 02, 2008
By P. McMahon
A really functional, lovely salt box just the right size for the stove top. If you are an avid gourmet chef then perhaps the next larger size is for you. I appreciate the warm wood tone and swival top. It is perfect for the everyday cook!

2Nice box, poorly builtOct 01, 2009
By Robertson
The box is nice, and I'm keeping it (mostly because it's not worth the hassle of returning it), but the build quality isn't great. I was expected a better fit between the door and the lid. It's not very tight, and the gap when the door is closed is uneven.

2Small, Pricey, Lid & Design Issues!Apr 06, 2010
By J. R. San Miguel "Wyzer"
I purchased this item hoping to use it as a "Sugar" bowl, as I like how Bamboo looks, and functions. First off, the size stated by Amazon at the time I purchased this item was 5.2L x 3H x 3W. It is not, the actual size is 3.13L x 2.78H x 2.5W. This would be nice for a small table for a few "pinches" of salt. For my use it fails, yet that is my fault. The look is very good, smooth, except for a nice nick in the lid caused by Amazon "worry free" packaging, the item was left loose, and was banged up by my other items, none of which I purchased stated "worry free" packaging. For the price I paid, I would not buy this ever again. While it is nice to look at, I could have purchased 2 sugar bowls, made from Bamboo, locally. The lid moves nicely, yet only about 1/5 of it comes in contact with the base, so there is a very nice gap between the lid and the base, allowing WAY too much air to enter in my opinion. The "pin" the lid sits on appears to be the culprit, yet there is not much I can do about, it is metal, and the hole the pin was placed in is drilled at an angle. Maybe this is a design? I doubt it though. I am only rating the product here, though, not Amazon. I give it 2 stars, it looks as stated in the picture, yet the cost for this product and the way it was manufactured really made me lower the count.

1NOT IMPRESSEDDec 18, 2008
By Stefanie A. Wehner "Stefanie W"
I saw something like this on one of the cooking shows and decided to purchase it. First off, it arrived cracked and second, it was too deep and when you got half way down the bowl - your fingers didn't fit and you had to keep on filling it after it reached half way down. I threw it out after 2 weeks of use. Waste of time and wasn't impressed with the workmanship.
