I used the chocolate cake recipe that came with the pan. My first cake fell apart as I dumped it out of the pan...not because I didn't use enough Baker's Joy, but because the cake domed in the middle, and being the novice I am, I didn't realize I need to use a serrated knife and cut the dome off...so, I baked cake #2. This time I spread the batter out towards the sides...it's a very thick batter. It helped some, but I still needed to slice the dome off. After doing that I had no problem. I used the little store bought tubes of icing and decorated it the same as the picture, and it turned out great. I was worried about a chocolate cake with very little icing having any taste, but this is a very moist recipe, and the almond flavoring gives it a real rich flavor.

Bought this pan for my sons John Deere themed bday! Looks great. I recommend trying it out before the big day. I learned u only need one box of cake mix and u should put it on a cookie sheet in the oven to keep the cake cooking level.

I couldn't believe how heavy this pan was compared to other cake pans. I did 3 birthday cakes already using it and it was great and worth the money I paid for it. It doesn't matter what age you use it for- I baked a cake for a 2 yr old and a 73 yr old and they both loved it.

The mold was perfect. I took one of my son's real tractors and frosted it to the John Deere colors. It turned out fantastic! I put some parchment paper inside the mold and then poured my cake batter into it. You could see some of the crease marks from the paper, but I just covered the cake in frosting and you couldn't even tell. I'm making a green John Deere cake for my son's 1st birthday and a pink cake for my daughter's 3rd birthday. They are both very excited about it!

I was very pleased about the condition and how quickly it arrived! It's in brand new shape and can't wait to use it for my daughter! she loves big green tractors! LOL)
