Really works!Sep 27, 2004

I keep two or three of these in my freezer at all times! It works two ways--with a warm can, you can slip this on and stick the can in the freezer for a few minutes for rapid cooling; with a cold can you can use it to keep your drink cool while you drink it. I also love the Vacu Vin Wine Chiller, which works the same way. When I'm ready to chill down a bottle of wine for dinner, I slip the frozen sleeve around the bottle, pop it all into the freezer for 10 minutes, and presto! Perfectly chilled wine in no time. These make great gifts!

If it starts cold it stays coldJul 12, 2003
Works great at keeping cans cold, but not for several hours, no way, maybe 30 minutes or so. But who keeps a can full that long anyway. Will cool down a warm can (room temp), but not make it cold. I like mine, but use it on cans right from the fridge to keep them cold.

Keeps a chilled can pleasantly cold for a whileJun 10, 2011

These sleeves are not magic and don't change the laws of thermodynamics, as the advertising blurb seems to imply, but they work well at keeping chilled cans chilled. They consist of six flexible plastic capsules probably filled with gelled water-alcohol solution, all wrapped in a sliver plastic foil. They fold up into fairly flat packages to fit in the freezer. Even at freezer temperatures the gel never turns to solid, although at really cold temperatures it does get pretty slushy. (If it froze solid it would have more heat absorbing capacity, but it would expand and rupture the capsules.) The sleeve slides firmly over a standard U.S. 12 fl. oz. (355 ml) beverage can. If the can starts out cold the sleeve will keep it quite cold for 30-45 minutes in a normal room environment -- no more than an hour at most. The time will be shorter in hot conditions and much shorter in direct sun. It will keep it cooler than the room for two or three hours, but not really cold.
There is talk in the reviews about using one of these to chill a warm can. It really does not have sufficient heat capacity to chill a can down too much if the can does not start out cold. Its thermal mass is only about one third as great as that of a can of beverage, so if the can starts at 75F and the sleeve starts at 0F then at equilibrium the can and sleeve will not be below 50F -- not all that cold. (Of course if you can then replace the sleeve with a second one from the freezer you can get it down further.) If you have warm cans you need a refrigertor or a filled ice chest, not one of these. But if you want to keep a chilled can pleasantly cold for a while, the sleeve will do the job.
They will not work as well with plastic or glass bottles of beverage as they will with cans, and may not fit many bottles.

You won't regret buying these!!May 13, 2004

My sister gave us all these for Christmas 1 1/2 years ago; she was on a trip to London and got them at Harrod's. We had (2) and (1) disappeared to who-knows-where and I've been looking for more ever since. I LOVE these coolers and was THRILLED to find them at Amazon today. Freeze them, put your canned drink in for a few minutes & it's icy cold & you're ready to roll! I live near the desert and always grab a drink on my way out the door and these are perfect!! ENJOY!!

Excellent productFeb 19, 2008
By Mark F. I've been using this product for 10 years and nothing works better. They're a must for drinking out of a can outside on a hot day. Two of them will give you an ice cold beer from a warm beer in 8 minutes (put the second one on at 8 minutes to "get it over the hump"). Put your canned beverages in these sleeves into a cooler before a long trip and they'll stay nice and cold for 4 hours easy without having to fight with ice and the melted water.
