I highly recommend this version over the fully plastic one (though the plastic still works). This is SOOO easy. You cut the top of the pineapple flat, and just start turning with this tool... I would suspect even a person with arthritis in their hands would find it easy. Pulls the whole pineapple out, perfectly sliced, great presentation, no quirks. I've seen this identical product for twice the price in stores (which is why I hadn't owned one yet) but at this price point is worth EVERY DOLLAR - seriously. Before this tool I NEVER bought whole pineapples, now I can't wait to see them in the produce isle!

A co-worker told me about this amazing little gadget. It arrived quickly in perfect condition. I've used it many times, and still love it. Perfect thin spirals of pineapple! The excess juice stays in the pineapple shell (which we pour into a small container and freeze for our cat. Pineapple juice helps break up hairballs.)
In our office, I think we're up to 6 people who bought one. It's so simple to use, and it's easy to clean. I highly recommend this for anyone who loves fresh pineapple.

Easy to use. clean up is basically simple. plastic handle removes from cylinder for ease of cleaning. The base/blade catches some fibrous pieces and a little extra attention is needed with a toothpick or floss, takes less than 30 seconds to clean it up.

If you want perfect slices of pineapple, then this is your gadget......but "easy" doesn't quite make the grade. It is a bit of a chore to get the slicer lined up in the center of the pineapple and then to turn it to spiral down can be a project in itself. I still give it 4 stars because it is a pretty slice when all is said and done but to not miss any of the fruit, I usually am scooping a bit more out from the shell.
