Simply the bestNov 15, 2007

The Viking food processor is definitely the best one I've ever owned. I use food processors to grate a lot of cheese and to chop a lot of vegetables and other food.
Over the last 15 years, I've gone through about five Cuisinarts. The reason is that when I grate softer cheese (mozzarella, jarlsberg, etc.), the cheese gets wedged between the lid and the grating wheel and eventually cracks and breaks the lid and the other components. That's why I decided to try something new to see if I could get it to last longer.
The Viking processor feels like a heavier-duty unit than any of the Cuisinarts I've ever used. The base feels solid, the dial (pulse and continuous) is heavy duty, and the bowl components are made of a much heavier gauge plastic and metal than any other unit I've seen.
So why will this unit last when the others haven't? It has a safety system built in to prevent the lid from cracking. The grating wheels don't go all the way to the edge of the bowl, which allows any small amounts of cheese remaining to get shot out to the side of the bowl instead of getting wedged in between the bowl and the lid. This little feature is INCREDIBLE! The unit then suffers almost no wear and tear so it should hopefully last for decades.
The VFP12BR comes with an upright case to hold the three double-sided grating wheels that come with the unit, giving you a total of six grating and slicing wheels of all different kinds. It also comes with a smaller bowl and three chopping blades as well (two steel and one plastic).
The safety system is also much more simple and direct than the Cuisinart system. It looks like there isn't much to break, which is awesome.
So, by all appearances, I have purchased my last Cuisinart for a very, very long time. I can't recommend this unit highly enough.

my third replacement Cuisinart was my lastDec 11, 2007

I bought a Viking 1 year ago when my 3rd Cuisinart bowl started to break. The Viking is more expensive, but the added strength of the components is worth it. I frequently grind nuts and not only does the Viking not walk across the counter, but it is vastly quieter as well. The motor does not strain when mixing stiff doughs, does not bind up when shredding or slicing and dicing and is heavy enough to hold up my cutting boards like a bookend.
If you use a food processor regularly, this is the one.

Very Nice MachineJan 08, 2009
By Thomas E. Ferguson This Viking processor is quality built. It has a heavy base with rollers on the rear to move it easily across the counter but will stay put during operation. The motor is very quiet with a single control to either run or pulse. The unit comes with a blade storage case, also large and small blades and bowls. That's all you need. The price is a bit more than the higher store-brand models but I'm glad I decided to go with the Viking. The quality and style is supurb.
