Love it!Mar 31, 2007

See I love this little grinder. It really is so helpful when I am cooking... opposed to constantly twisting. I also love the fine, course, medium setting. I did not have any problem with the knob on the top becoming loose. I also love the crushing mechanism rather than the conventional grinding that comes with others. I wish it was cheaper so that I could get a salt one as well. Come on Amazon.. sell the salt mill.

Pretty, but averageFeb 01, 2007

This is the second William Bounds grinder like this I bought. I've had the other, which is almost identical but wooden instead of clear, and it's worked very well for the four or five years I've had it. This one doesn't "feel" like quite the same quality, and (oddly) the knob on top works its way loose after a while. I love the coarseness settings and being able to see what type of pepper is in the grinder. It's definitely difficult to fill, but my old one has the same problem -- I set the grinder in a bowl, and use a funnel to carefully fill it.

Finally!!!May 14, 2007
By Mrs. V. Finally found a great pepper grinder which is inexpensive, cute and works like a charm! Very pleased with the product, especially after having bought so many DUDS. You wouldn't think it would be so hard to find a good pepper grinder! Very pleased with the product.

Not badMar 04, 2008
By Carlgo Maybe I was expecting a little more. The clear plastic body is not 100% rigid, the chromed metal parts seem to be zinc or pot metal and are not crisply cast. You would think the handle would have an actual rotating knob, but it is all one piece.
The top ring rotates for settings fine, medium and coarse. This is a nice feature, better than the usual inaccurate knob-tightening control on most grinders. However, it sometimes rotates around to different settings as you are grinding, so you have to pay attention. This is not really a big problem or anything, but it shouldn't happen.
It is pretty small and the crank is not so long. You don't have that much leverage. This makes grinding a little jerky and perhaps a touch difficult for weak people.
You do get some colorful peppercorns, not cheap at stores these days, and it doesn't seem as though its shortcomings will cause it to break.
Its actual purpose in life is to crush pepper and it does that quite well. Perhaps the larger models would be better for some people, but I like this style and size for my kitchen.

Fabulous product, but doesn't last longSep 22, 2008

I bought this in January with a gift certificate I got to a cooking store. I have loved it ever since. I use a lot of black pepper in my cooking and it completely suits my needs as it is very easy to grind a lot of pepper quickly and easily. However, just now, as I was making salsa, the bottom of it cracked, a chunk of plastic fell out and peppercorns fell in my salsa... I had to pick peppercorns & fish a piece of plastic out of my salsa. I am so disappointed. I haven't even owned it a year and it's broken already.
