flax seed millApr 05, 2010
By Nancy Ingersoll I purchased this for the purpose of grinding flax seed. The results are disappointing. Whether the grind level is fine or coarse, most of the flax seeds come out whole. So almost no grinding is taking place with the flax seeds.
Pure and simple: Does not workApr 11, 2012
By Donald McCormack I purchased this item at a specialty kitchen store in Colorado as an alternative to a coffee mill. I have tried a number of spices, including cumin and mustard seed, all with the same poor results. Regardless of the setting of the grinder, nothing happens until it is set so course that the spices fall through. Quite simply, it does not work.
You need one....or twoMar 11, 2012
By billonline With this ceramic grinder you can grind almost any nut or seed, salt, pepper, etc. Plus this can go in the dishwasher. Once you get one, you'll want two....or more
Great!Feb 09, 2012
By JE I had one for several years, and used it for both peppercorns and grains of paradise, which are perhaps half the size of a peppercorn (?)
It worked great on both of these. I liked it because it had a much higher output than my traditional "upright" peppermill that looks like a tall chess-pawn. Less grinds for more pepper, so easier on the wrist. Also, the glass jar is easy to load, easy to see when it needs a refill.
AND what I liked most about it is that it STAYS CLEAN AND SANITARY, versus my other more conventional pepper mill.... where the pepper-dispensing side had a ring of rubber around it, which collected crunchy peppercorn crumbs which were constantly falling out of the mill when it sat on my countertop, and the rubber bit was impossible to clean. This thing sits upright *and* has a lid, so sanitary and no mess!
Travels easily to BBQs, lunch at work, pot lucks and picnics! It has become my new peppermill (I threw my old one w/ stainless steel mechanism away. Ceramic for me from now on, and this one is ceramic).
The only reason I'm buying a new one is because my old one was accidentally dropped and the glass jar was smashed.
